Another Boston Children’s Hospital Kidnapping – Part I

umb rally sqThis past Valentine’s Day 2015, activists from across the country stood outside various Children’s Hospitals to mark the 2-year Anniversary of 14-year old Justina Pelletier’s medical kidnap.   FoxCT spoke with the family for an update on her time back home and her severe medical problems on the holiday Justina says she “will never celebrate again.”

In Boston, while everyone else was hunkering down for an impending coastal blizzard, dedicated activists weathered the bitter cold to stand outside Boston Children’s Hospital, (BCH), with umbrellas.  The umbrellas were to represent that “All children belong under the protective umbrella of loving parents“.   bch umbrella rallyThe location was because it was BCH that medically kidnapped Justina, making her a ward of the state of Massachusetts.  SEE  Wards of the state: lab rats?

Despite the impending storm,  there were still other victims of BCH who came out from the shadows to tell their harrowing stories, and talk about the loss of their children through similar circumstances.  While the 16-month battle to “Free Justina” captured national attention, there were very many more children across the country medically kidnapped with little to no notice, except by their devastated families.

crowd_0153_520Justina was taken by BCH on Valentines day 2013, and put in a locked down psych ward for the ensuing 10 months.  As more people became aware of the Pelletier family’s plight, public pressure saw Justina moved out of the psych ward, and into a group facility where protesters began peaceful rallies out front.  By April of 2014, outrage of Justina’s captivity was mounting, and rallies to free her started gaining momentum, culminating in the biggest rally of thousands in front of the state house on May 24th.  lyonsJustina was finally released to her family the following month, some 16 months later, and there is no doubt public outcry and outrage had everything to do with her release back to her parents, and home to Connecticut.

While the world’s eyes were fixed on Justina, BCH continued their business as usual, and who knows how many children were actually removed from their parents, even those from different states.  On May 2, 2014, BCH took little Baby Bella without notice, and almost a year later, Bella’s parents, quietly continue their struggle to get their precious daughter back.  They were from Alabama, but are now at the dictates of Massachusetts Department of Children and Families for everything they can or cannot do, including when they can or cannot see their baby daughter.  With another child on the way, the couple lives in constant heartache, but even more so, in constant terror that Massachusetts will take their unborn child too!renee w baby
There is precedent for Bella’s parents to fear DCF taking their child at birth, as it is very common for these agencies to take all the other children, once they have one in the system. (The mother in the photo at right, had her twins taken at birth, just as they had done the child in her arms who was simply allowed a visit with her birth mother that day, and ultimately all three of her children were adopted out to some very lucky strangers: CONFIRMED! “very common” – States needlessly take custody of OUR children!)  The Hinote’s simply want to get their baby back, and go on with their lives as a family.  If Massachusetts has other ideas for them, then DCF usually will get their way, unless, as in Justina’s story, the public comes out to help.

Here is their story.  cjbMedical Kidnap, Calculated Heartache, and Destruction of Families
